Man charged with assault, intoxication

Iowa City police arrested a man after he allegedly brandished a broken beer bottle at someone in a downtown Iowa City bar.

Camurn Munro, 19, was charged Feb. 11 with assault with intent to inflict serious injury and public intoxication at the Summit Restaurant & Bar, 10 S. Clinton St.

According to police reports, the alleged victim said Munro was asked to leave the bar when he grabbed a beer bottle off the table, broke it, and began to swing it in the direction of the victim.

Iowa City police arrived and discovered Munro being held down by the bar staff.

Assault with intent to cause serious injury is an aggravated misdemeanor generally punishable by up to two years in prison and a maximum fine of up to $6,250.

As of Feb. 12, Munro was being held in the Johnson County Jail on $2,000 bond.
