Attorneys for a Minneapolis man charged in connection with the 2004 break-in at the UI Spence Labs and Seashore Hall have renewed their request for a trial delay, according to court documents.
Scott DeMuth, 22, is charged with conspiracy to commit animal-enterprise terrorism. On Nov. 14, 2004, four masked individuals broke into Spence Labs and Seashore Hall and caused around $450,000 in damages. The Animal Liberation Front claimed credit for the break-in.
Originally, DeMuth’s counsel requested a 45-day extension to file pretrial motions. After a federal judge denied this request for lack of an acceptable reason, attorneys asked for a 30-day extension, which would move DeMuth’s trial to April 21.
