UI may lose more funds

The UI could potentially see a 1 to 5 percent reversion in its budget, Faculty Council officials said.

At the Faculty Council meeting Tuesday, David Drake, thepresident of the Faculty Senate, addressed the budget, noting that the UI may soon have to return some money from the general education fund to the state government.

Each 1 percent roughly equals $2.35 million.

“Cuts will have to be made and in a very short period of time,” Drake said.

The Revenue Estimating Committee will meet Thursday; the members will discuss whether the state will go through with the reversions.
