BREAKING: Martin O’Malley suspends campaign

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is calling it quits.

A source close to the campaign have confirmed the 53-year-old will announce his campaign suspension at about 9:30 p.m. at his caucus party at Wooly’s, 504 E Locust St., in Des Moines.

With about 78 percent of Democratic Iowa precincts reporting, O’Malley is currently at 0.5 percent.

The source said it has been a “tough, unprecedented year,” and that O’Malley has spent more time in Iowa than any other candidate. From Jan. 2015-Jan. 2016, the former Maryland governor and former Baltimore mayor, had 177 events over 65 days in Iowa.
