The regents’ Education and Student Affairs Committee chose to recommend the creation of a Iowa Institute of Public Health Research and Policy in the College of Public Health.
The institute would “promote development, implementation, and application of cutting-edge public-health research to address grand challenges in population health,” according to the proposal.
Officials plan to use grants and philanthropy dollars to sustain it.
The regents will vote on the proposal today.
