The Olympics enjoys success as a pop-rock band from Iowa, having been compared with Pink Floyd and influenced by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

It is an unsigned band, but the members are on their way to the top after recently releasing their first full-length album.

The Olympics will play in Iowa City on Friday at the Blue Moose, 211 Iowa Ave. The show will start at 9 p.m.; admission is $5.

The band features five players, including a keyboardist, and breaks the mold of a signature pop-rock band.

Many of the members have long hair, and they love to incorporate guitar solos into every song of the live sets.

Originally from Iowa, they were not directly exposed to a huge music scene until they opened for numerous bands. Now, the Olympics has a small fan base and is well on its way to becoming the next big thing in the business.
