Iowa men’s gymnastics places third in tri-meet

The ninth-ranked Iowa men’s gymnastics team placed third with a score of 426.300 in a tri-meet against No. 7 Minnesota, 430.300, and No. 10 Nebraska, 427.700, on March 16.

Sophomore Mitchell Landau and senior Anton Gryshayev were the only Hawkeyes to win individual titles in Lincoln, Neb. Landau won the high bar with a score of 15.250, and Gryshayev paced the still rings, posting a 15.050.

As a team, Iowa won only one of the six events, the still rings with a score of 72.950.

Iowa posted its highest team score on the vault with a 73.050. Redshirt freshman Cyrus Dobre-Mofid tied for second on the event with a score of 14.800. Nebraska’s Grant Perdue paced the event with a 15.250.

The Black and Gold will return to action on Saturday, when Illinois-Chicago will visit Iowa City.

With an average score of 406.100, Illinois-Chicago is ranked 15th nationally by GymInfo. The event is scheduled to begin at 5 pm in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The dual meet will conclude the regular season for the Hawkeyes. On April 5-6, the Big Ten championships will be held in Minneapolis. All seven Big Ten teams are ranked in the top 11 nationally.
