Iowa law enforcement to conduct traffic enforcement wave

Iowa City police officials will participate in a traffic wave this week.

According to a release, officials will partake in the next Special Traffic Enforcement Program wave on Thursday through March 17.

Law-enforcement agencies across the state will look out for motorists who are violating traffic laws during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

During a traffic wave in 2012, there were 16,279 traffic violations reported by 234 law-enforcement agencies, the release said. The next traffic event will be conducted during the Memorial Day holiday weekend from May 20 until June 2.
