Home-opening Iowa baseball series postponed

What would have been the Iowa men’s baseball team’s home-opening series against Nebraska-Omaha this weekend has been canceled. The three-game series was scheduled to take place at Banks Field beginning on Friday and ending on March 17.

The new location of the series has yet to be determined but will be contested on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

The Black and Gold are riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping the Snow Bird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla., on March 8 through Sunday.

Iowa played Nebraska-Omaha just once last season, dropping a 3-1 night game. The Hawkeyes were up 1-0 before the Mavericks tacked on three straight to win.

The Black and Gold posted an 11-8 home record last season, compared to just a 5-11 mark on the road. Iowa’s 2013 campaign has had both ups and downs, as the team sits at 7-6 overall.
