The Iowa men’s track team placed seventh out of 11 teams in the Big Ten Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, this weekend.

Jordan Mullen took home the title in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.70 seconds. The senior broke his own previous school record for fastest time in the event. This was the third time this year he broke his own record.

Sophomore transfer Babatunde Amosu finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 50-10 3/4 inches. The former Texas A&M student athlete’s jump was the fifth-best in Iowa history. Freshman Klyvens Delaunay placed fourth with a mark of 50-10 inches and freshman David Nsabua had a personal best leap of 48-9 inches to finish eighth.

“I felt a lot better at the end of the meet than I did at the end of the first day,” head coach Larry Wieczorek said in a release. “We fought hard today like I wanted us to. We are not near the type of team we want to be this year, but we are certainly building momentum heading into the outdoor season.”

Senior Josh Larney set a personal best time in the 200 meters with a time of 6.75 seconds to finish second in the event. His time ranks third all-time at Iowa.

Ethan Holmes finished in sixth place in both the 60-meter hurdles and the 200-meters. The senior had a time of 7.88 seconds in the hurdles and 21.38 seconds in the 200 meters, a personal best.

Iowa will have the option to send runners to the Last Chance Meet in Ames, Iowa on March 2.
