Coralville man charged with an OWI

A Coralville man has been accused of running from an officer after being arrested on an OWI cahrge.

James Scully, 21, Coralville, was charged Wednesday with OWI, unlawful use of driver’s license/ID of another, and escape from custody.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, Scully was pulled over for speeding and was subsequently charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

While an officer opened the back door to the patrol car, Scully fled northbound on Dubuque and was apprehended at Terrill Mill Park — approximately 500 feet from the traffic stop.

Escape from custody and OWI are both serious misdemeanors.
