Reggae group plays the Yacht Club

Tonight, Yacht Club will rock out when the "reggae-tronic" dub group Jon Wayne and the Pain return for a show. The group has established a distinguished sound combining elements of reggae, rock, and dub.

The show will start at 9 p.m. today at the Yacht Club, 13 S. Linn St. Admission is $6.

Jon Wayne and the Pain has developed an ever-changing sound with a hip dub-step vibe on tour this past year. The group maintains high energy during shows to give crowd-pleasing performance.

The three-man group formed in Minneapolis six years ago as a completely different group and has since evolved.

"We take original influence form artists such as Sublime and take it and make it our own thing," Wayne said. "We mix reggae with dub step and a little house music and do extended soloing and experimentation."

Returning for the band’s third show at the Yacht Club, Wayne said the group’s shows get better every time.

"In the last six months, our performance has become much more dance-oriented, if you’re looking to dance," he said.
