Five members of the Iowa football team, including offensive lineman Riley Reiff and cornerback Shaun Prater, received preseason honors on Tuesday.
Reiff, a junior from Parkston, S.D., was named to the Consensus Draft Services’ preseason All-American second team, and Prater and defensive linemen Broderick Binns and Mike Daniels received honorable-mention nods.
Consensus Draft Services becomes the fourth media outlet to give Reiff All-American honors and the second to give Prater the same distinction. All four players have been named to at least one All-Big Ten team in the past several months as well.
In addition, kicker Mike Meyer was named to the College Football Performance Awards Watch List as a place-kicker and a kickoff specialist.
Meyer, a sophomore from Dubuque, connected on 14-of-17 field goals in 2010 (82.4 percent). His longest kick of the season came against Indiana on Nov. 6, 2010, when he booted a 42-yarder for one of his four field goals in the 18-13 win.
