GymHawks look to rebound from loss

The 23rd-ranked Iowa women’s gymnastics team will travel to Raleigh, N.C., on Sunday to challenge the No. 18 North Carolina State Wolfpack at noon.

After a tough loss against Illinois last week, the GymHawks are hoping to regain some of the ground they lost.

The team’s ongoing goal for the season is to continually raise the team’s total score every meet, and the Hawkeyes managed to improve in their second and third meets, but dropped by 1.9 points against the Fighting Illini when they finished with 193.475.

The showdown against the Wolfpack will give the GymHawks an opportunity to redeem themselves and improve once again after the loss to Illinois dropped them from being ranked 15th.

Small mistakes have cost the GymHawks tenths of points, which add up against tough competition.

To erase the errors, the Hawkeyes have continued to train hard even during the fatigue of mid-season.

“We’ll figure out how to fix our mistakes and be ready to go,” head coach Larissa Libby said in a release.

Competition will begin at noon (CT) in the Reynolds Coliseum.
