Corning man charged with third OWI

A Corning, Iowa, man was charged with allegedly driving while intoxicated for the third time.

Joseph Gauthier, 59, was charged Nov. 12 with third-offense OWI.

Coralville police said they received a call about a red vehicle, license plate 732 XFF, swerving on the road, then driving on the grass. The officer responding to the incident reportedly saw the driver pull off the grass onto the drive at the Westport carwash before driving on and off the curb two more times.

Gauthier, the only occupant of the vehicle, has previous OWI convictions from October 2003 and October 2006. He reportedly had a blood-alcohol content of .212 on a Datamaster.

Third-offense OWI is a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $9,375.
