Women’s golf sits in ninth in Dallas

At the conclusion of day one of the Onion Creek Challenge in Austin, Texas, the Iowa women’s golf team is tied for ninth with the University of Denver. The Hawkeyes tallied a two-round combined score of 595.

Leading the pack is Coastal Carolina at 574, followed by Illinois.

Kristi Cardwell is at the forefront for the Hawkeyes. She sits in 11th after carding a 143 for the day (3-over). In the first round she shot a 74 and in the second improved to 69, 1-under.

Following Cardwell is Chelsea Harris in 27th with a score of 147. Harris shot rounds of 72 and 75.

Lauren Forbes is tied for 39th at 150. Rounding out the team scoring for the Hawkeyes are Laura Cilek and Gigi DiGrazia in a tie for 57th at 156.

The final round of the tournament — as well as the fall season — will begin at 8:30 a.m. today.
