Diwali approaches

The UI Indian Student Alliance will host Diwali, commonly known as the “Festival of Lights,” on Nov. 14 from 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Diwali is one of the largest South Asian holidays, lasting from three to five days. At the UI event last fall, more than 750 students attended, making it one of the largest diversity events on campus.

The event will include an Indian meal catered by Taj Mahal restaurant in Cedar Rapids at 5:30. Dinner will be followed by performances ranging from traditional Indian music to a modern Bollywood dance led by students, local dance troupes, and renowned Diwali performers.

The event will take place in the IMU Main Lounge and second-floor ballroom.

The first 200 student tickets are for sale at $10. Reserved seating tickets are $25 and general admission tickets are $15.
