Sexual abuse trial delayed

An Arkansas man’s trial for sexual abuse has been delayed once again.

Travis Lee Porter, 47, was charged in 2009 with one count of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse. He is accused of committing sex acts with a young girl from 1999 to 2005, according to court documents.

His trial was originally set to proceed today, but it was pushed to Sept. 30 due to “some discovery issues,” according to Porter’s defense attorney, Eric Tindal.

Johnson County County Attorney Janet Lyness said the defense team wanted to add a new witness to the case, which could have been further cause for delay.

Porter’s trial has been held back several times over the past four-and-a-half years.
