Public Space One will relocate from its Jefferson Street building but not before hosting The Untitled Bombsite Project, a documentary film and multimedia presentation running continuously during gallery hours in the space until Saturday.

The documentary tells the story of Japanese soldier Nobou Fujita, a fighter pilot who bombed a forest near Brookings, Ore., in September 1942 as part of a Japanese campaign to start forest fires along the West Coast of the United States.

Using drawings, audio soundscapes, film, and other multimedia, this exhibit tells the story of the bombing and the 30-year relationship that formed between the soldier and the town in the years after the war.

"The work is just as much about the place as it is about the event," said Jonathan Rattner, an assistant professor of film studies and art at Vanderbilt University and a co-creator of the work, along with Jill Baker. "So the installation allows the audience to experience both."

The gallery is open from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
