Area man faces drug charges

A North Liberty man has been arrested for allegedly possessing six pounds of marijuana.

Michael McCrary, 20, was charged with a controlled-substance violation, possessing or distributing without a tax stamp, and knowingly keeping or permitting the keeping of a controlled substance.

According to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office complaint, a search warrant was executed on McCrary’s residence on April 26, and during the search, authorities allegedly found six pounds of marijuana in his bedroom. The marijuana was in the process of being broken down to smaller packages for the purpose of selling it, the complaint said.

McCrary allegedly admitted to knowing about the marijuana and the sale of marijuana out of his residence.

Knowingly keeping or permitting the keeping of a controlled substance is considered an aggravated misdemeanor.

A controlled-substance violation is a Class-D felony.

Possessing or distributing without a tax stamp is a Class-D felony.
