Children’s author Anne Ylvisaker will read at 2 p.m. May 15 at Prairie Lights, 15 S. Dubuque St., from her latest book, The Luck of the Buttons. Admission is free.

Ylvisaker has published 19 nonfiction books aimed at young readers. The former Cedar Rapids resident has a masters’ degree in education, and she was recently a winner of the Iowa Author award.

She has gained much acclaim, especially in Iowa, from her previous works Little Klein and Dear Papa. She now lives in Monterey, Calif., with her husband and daughter.
