Jennings plays IMU

American pop folksinger/songwriter Mason Jennings will play at 8 p.m. today in the IMU Main Lounge. The free show is sponsored by SCOPE along with the Office of Sustainability, Engineers for a Sustainable World, University of Iowa Environmental Coalition, UI Student Government, and I-Renew. In the month of April, these groups have worked to raise awareness for positive practices in the environment.

Jennings is a longtime supporter of all things “green.” His record label, Brushfire Records, has a recording studio that runs on solar power and is constructed with all recycled materials. The outspoken musician is very much aware of his own carbon footprint and refuses to tour in a bus — he has a van instead.

The artist releases inspirational albums that attempt to raise people up in times of struggle. His latest release is an acoustic album titled The Flood.
