Dahm adds two commits from state of Illinois

The Iowa baseball program picked up two oral commitments in the last week from the class of 2012.

According to prepbaseballreport.com, the Hawkeyes received oral agreements from a pair of top-25 juniors in the state of Illinois. Both catcher Blake Hickman and left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki made their decisions after visiting Iowa City earlier this month.

Hickman, who attends Simeon High School in Chicago, is ranked No. 7 in the state in the Class of 2012. Through 15 games this season, the 6-4 junior is hitting .444 with two home runs and 21 RBI.

Borucki will join Hickman in the fall of 2012; the Mundelein High pitcher orally committed to Iowa late last week. The 6-3 southpaw is ranked No. 16 in his class and is 3-0 this spring.

Despite up-and-down program success, head coach Jack Dahm and his staff has recruited well over the last year. Perfect Game USA rated the Hawkeyes’ upcoming 2011 recruiting class as the Big Ten’s best.
