The first Hawkeye Distinguished Veterans Award recipient Staff Sergeant Dr. Maria Guadalupe Bruno of the U.S. Air Force and Illinois National Guard. The annual Hawkeye Distinguished Veterans Award was given to five recipients on Veterans Day Nov. 11, 2021, in the Iowa Memorial Union main lounge at 5 p.m.
