Iowa senior Peter Jok beat the field at the College 3-point Championships at Grand Canyon University on March 30.
Jok beat Iowa State’s Naz Mitrou-Long in the first round head-to-head, 21-11. With five basketballs in a rack and the last ball in each rack designated as a “money ball” worth two points, the best possible score is 30.
Jok’s 21 first-round score led the field, and his 22 second-round score put him in first place heading into the finals against Grand Canyon’s Dewayne Russell.
The Big Ten’s leading scorer outdid Russell in the final with a score of 20 to take home the crown.
In the head-to-head matchup against the women’s champion, Kindred Wesemann of Kansas State, Jok lost on a tiebreaker after both shooters scored 16.
