In honor of the 226th anniversary of the signing of the historical document, University of Iowa ROTC cadets took turns in reading parts of the Constitution on Tuesday in a ceremony at the IMU.
Local students, professors, and politicians responded to the relevance of the documents in today’s world.
“[The Constitution] is a foundational document,” cadet Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy Jenkins said.
“Amendments have to be made based on changes in society,” he said. “We are not just rewriting it. We are mending issues that arise.”
