The City of Iowa City Fire Department is taking part in a second cancer-research fundraiser.
According to a city press release, the fundraiser is a part of a cancer awareness and fundraising campaign being led by the department to help raise funds for the Firefighter Cancer Support Network and the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center for breast-cancer research.
The department will wear pink shirts while on duty as well as selling “Heroes Wear Pink” shirts to the public for $15 each.
Last year, the department raised more than $2,000. The fundraiser coincides with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
