A University of Iowa student has been charged with assault on a peace officer.
According to an Iowa City police complaint, Katheryn Stites, 18, N108 Currier, was charged Sunday.
Stites was being booked into the Johnson County Jail for public intoxication, when, after changing her clothes, she allegedly opened the curtain and walked toward a uniformed deputy. According to the complaint Stites placed her hands on the deputy and pushed the deputy back.
Assault on peace officers and others is considered a serious misdemeanor.
