A University of Iowa student has been charged in a hit-and-run incident.
According to an Iowa City police complaint, Ariana Konhilas, 19, 1144 Quadrangle, was charged Sunday with second-degree criminal mischief.
Police officials responded to a report from a man who told them he suspected his ex-girlfriend of hitting his car intentionally. The damage to the man’s vehicle was estimated to cost at least $3,000, the complaint read.
At approximately 11:28, Konhilas allegedly called dispatch on a recorded line and said she hit a car intentionally last night in Coralville. Konhilas came to the police station for an interview and immediately invoked her right to counsel, the complaint read.
Second-degree criminal mischief is considered a Class-D felony and is punishable by up to five years in jail and a maximum fine of $7,500.
