University of Iowa police have closed the investigation surrounding a recent robbery after determining it did not occur.

The change comes after a male UI student reported being robbed at knifepoint by three men on his way back to Mayflower Hall on Jan. 22.

The report said the man suffered minor injuries and was taken by friends to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment.

However, after following up on the report, police said in a statement the robbery did not occur. The investigation has since been closed as unfounded.
