A pedestrian was hit by a car near the intersection of Iowa Avenue and Gilbert Street around 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to reports.

Iowa City police Sgt. Vicki Lalla said the pedestrian hit by a car was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. It was a one-car, one-pedestrian accident, Lalla said.

She said the department is not releasing names because the accident is still under investigation.

The department does not have information on whether the pedestrian has been released from the hospital.
