Iowa City police have charged a man with purposefully having personal contact with another person with the intent to threaten, intimidate, or otherwise alarm the other person.

According to Iowa City police, Michael Mills, 26, address unknown, has been convicted of third-degree harassment. Since his conviction, Mills has allegedly continued to harass the victim by making personal contact with the person on several occasions.

The victim then allegedly saved all unwanted text messages from Mills from Jan. 1 to Jan. 20, 38 messages in total. In Mills’ alleged harassment, he also violated an order of protection for the victim that does not expire until Oct. 21, 2016, the report said.

Third-degree harassment is a simple misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of $625.
