Coralville police arrested a Chicago man and two others after they allegedly attempted to rob Coralville residents nearly two years ago.
Reports said 21-year-old Jimmy Powell Jr. and two others entered the residence at 708 18th Ave. on Aug. 28, 2009 with their faces covered by scarves. Powell allegedly pointed an automatic handgun at the occupants, demanding money.
Officers said they tracked the suspects using a K-9 unit, recovering a knife and a scarf.
The scarf, which was positively identified by the alleged victims, reportedly revealed traces of Powell’s DNA.
Powell has been charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
