The state Board of Regents voted to approve the allocation of the mandatory student fees for the 2011-12 year at its meeting Wednesday in Ames.
The allocated revenue for the student activity fee for University of Iowa students will total $1,708,500 for the new academic year, up from $1,627,865 in 2010-11. UIstudents will pay $4 more per year with the increase, a hike of roughly 3 percent. Additionally, the student services fee increased from $1,743, 906 to $1,810,500. Building fees remained the same for the UI, while Iowa State University’s building fee pool of money decreased 28.3 percent.
According to the regents, the changes are the result of approved student fee rates and enrollment projections for the universities. The regents approved tuition and mandatory fees at its March 23 meeting in Ames.
