The state Board of Regents voted to approve the appointment of Margaret Crocco as the new dean of the University of Iowa College of Education at the board’s meeting Wednesday in Ames.
UI interim Provost P. Barry Butler announced Crocco as the successor to Dean Sandra Damico March 24.
Crocco previously served as a professor and the head of the Department of Arts and Humanities at Teachers College, Columbia University, and received a Ph.D. in American civilization from the University of Pennsylvania.
Crocco will officially become dean July 1. She will have an annual salary of $270,000.
