KRUI radio has asked the Executive Council of Graduate Students to reconsider its fiscal 2012 budget appropriation.
The station originally requested a budget of $87,610, but in April, the Executive Council offered $52,801.
KRUI Director Dolan Murphy said the main issue with the proposed budget is it will not allow the directors to be fully compensated.
"The stipend is very important for our directors, especially with the time commitment," Murphy said, noting that directors are required to work at least 10 hours per week.
Some Executive Council members expressed concern KRUI has not done enough to balance its budget.
"If you dropped all salaries from the radio station, you would have a really big budget to do the things [another] radio station would do," said stef shuster, a member of the Graduate Student Senate.
But KRUI officials said their funding has not been adequately raised, even though they have seen increased staff numbers in recent years.
The Executive Council passed a motion to maintain the proposed budget as is.
