City High Principal John Bacon has won the inaugural Yager Educational Accomplishment Award, according to a university press release.
The award, the University of Iowa College of Education’s highest honor for a graduate, was presented at a banquet on April 22.
The award includes a $2,500 prize, which is made possible by UI Science and Education Professor Emeritus Robert Yager, who received a master’s in 1953 and a doctorate in 1957 from the education school.
Bacon received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s in educational administration at the education school.
