Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, announced Thursday he would run for the GOP presidential nomination.

He skipped the initial step of forming an exploratory committee, saying on his Twitter account, "I am running for president."

Johnson had said he would make the announcement in New Hampshire on Thursday.

The Republican supports withdrawing troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, abortion rights, and legalizing marijuana.
