The Iowa City City Council approved plans for the construction of the Iowa River Trail at its meeting Tuesday.
The trail would run from Napolean Park to the Trueblood Recreation Area.
A river lookout area and trail connections along McCollister Boulevard would be included in the project.
The estimated cost for the project is $280,000, which will be funding by an Iowa DOT State Recreational Trails Program grant and from general-obligation bond proceeds.
