Two Iowa City residents are displaced after a fire caused nearly $12,000 to their home on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Iowa City Fire Department, firefighters responded to a report of a struture fire at 2401 Bartelt Road early Wednesday morning.
Authorities arrived on scene just after 7 a.m. and reported an evacuation in progress. The fire was confined to a bedroom in a single apartment, according to the press release.
Fire crews reportedly extinguished the fire at 7:11 a.m.
The fire displaced two residents, who were assisted by the Red Cross. Fire crews searched the building to find other victims but found none.
Damage estimates are around $12,000. The department is investigating the cause of the fire.
