The University of Iowa received approval from the state Board of Regents today for a new Master of Fine Arts in the Book Arts Program.
The three-year program will require 60 semester hours and will build on the current certificate program offered through the Center for the Book.
Areas of emphasis in the program will include papermaking, printing, digital bookwork, calligraphy, bookbinding, artist bookwork, and other supporting courses.
Officials project eight students will enroll in the program during its first year; they expect enrollment to increase to 24 by its third year.
