A Riverside man was charged with methamphetamine possession after allegedly smoking crystal meth in his minivan.

Gregory Dolan, 46, Riverside, was charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver.

According to authorities, Johnson County deputies stopped Dolan at 12:39 a.m. on Nov. 10 after he drove past them in a red Nissan minivan with no taillights. The deputy said Dolan appeared nervous during the initial stop and denied having narcotics in the vehicle when questioned.

A drug-sniffing dog indicated the presence of narcotics, leading deputies to reportedly find drug paraphernalia for using crystal methamphetamine and two empty bags with narcotic residue on the floor, deputies said.

Dolan reportedly had a broken apart pen for crystal meth use in his pocket and admitted to smoking crystal meth prior to the traffic stop.

Deputies also said Dolan had more than five grams of methamphetamine in two plastic Ziplock bags under the driver’s seat in a magnetic case.

Possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver is a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a a maximum of a $100,000 fine.
