The attorney for a former University of Iowa vice president for Student Services has requested that the court ask the defendants to provide more definitive answers to items in the case.
Phillip Jones sued the UI, President Sally Mason, and the state Board of Regents in June 2009, alleging wrongful termination and defamation.
Mason fired Jones, along with then-UI General Counsel Marcus Mills, after an investigation criticizing the handling of an alleged sexual assault singled out both men.
Jones has requested that a judge require the parties to answer to a number of items, including that the Stolar Group — a St. Louis Law firm that the UI hired to investigate the handling of the assault — was the first to release the victim’s name to the public.
In response to the request, the parties have admitted to some of the items but continue to object to other request for admissions.
