Carl Davis becomes the second defensive lineman to declare his allegiance to the Iowa football team, orally committing to the Hawkeyes on Sunday morning.
The 6-5, 300-pounder from Sterling Heights, Mich., watched Iowa’s 30-28 victory over Michigan on Oct. 10, and the crowd’s enthusiasm played a pivotal role in his decision.
“The atmosphere was great at Kinnick last night, and the game was a lot of fun,” Davis told Rivals.com. “The fans were going nuts, and I could definitely see playing there.”
The lineman considered offers from Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Kansas before making a decision.
Davis told Rivals.com he is happy to be committed to a Division-I program because he can now focus on his 7-0 high-school team and a possible state title.
“I feel like being committed means something,” Davis told Rivals.com. “It is kind of like being married. I guess that is how I feel. I don’t need to see anywhere else.”
