No. 2 Iowa wrestling defeated No. 7 Iowa State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday in a Cy-Hawk matchup, 18-15. Iowa’s No. 4 285-pound Tony Cassioppi broke a 15-15 tie with a win over the Cyclone’s No. 10 Sam Schuyler in the final match of the day.
Iowa’s three-time NCAA Champion Spencer Lee made his return to the mat after sitting out last season for ACL surgery. Lee defeated Iowa State’s 125-pound Corey Cabanban by major decision, 16-5.
The Hawkeyes improved to 6-0 on the season and will next head to Chattanooga, Tenn., for a matchup with the Mocs.
