Iowa sophomore Joe Wieskamp has been named to the 10-player Preseason All-Big Ten team, the conference announced Oct. 2.

Wieskamp ranked third on Iowa last season, averaging 11.1 points per game, and he led the team and finished second in the conference with a 3-point percentage of 42.4. He also ranked second on the team with 4.9 rebounds per game.

After being named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team last season, he joins Illinois’ Ayo Dosunmu and Maryland’s Jalen Smith as the only underclassmen in the preseason group.

Wieskamp is the third Hawkeye in the past five seasons to be named to the preseason team, joining Jarrod Uthoff in 2015 and Peter Jok in 2016.

The full list includes Wieskamp, Dosunmu, Smith, Michigan State’s Cassius Winston, Ohio State’s Kaleb Wesson, Maryland’s Anthony Cowan, Penn State’s Lamar Stevens, Michigan’s Zavier Simpson, Michigan State’s Xavier Tillman, and Purdue’s Nojel Eastern.

Winston earned unanimous Preseason Big Ten Player of the Year honors.

The Hawkeyes will return to the court on Nov. 4 when they host Lindsey Wilson College in an exhibition game at 7 p.m.
