Iowa football’s future schedules released
August 29, 2018
The future schedules for Hawkeye football have been released by the Big Ten, with the Black Friday game against Nebraska returning in 2022.
The Heroes game will return for the first time since 2019 after Iowa closes the season against Wisconsin in 2020 and 2021.
“We are excited to resume the tradition of the Hy-Vee Heroes Game with Nebraska to close our regular season,” athletic director Gary Barta said in a release. “The Friday game has been well-received on both campuses and the annual recognition of heroes from each state has been a popular program.”
The Hawkeyes will play four conference games at Kinnick in 2022 and 2024 while hosting five contests in 2023 and 2025.
In addition to its conference games, Iowa will host nonconference opponents Kent State (2021), South Dakota State (2022), Illinois State (2024), and Northern Illinois (2025), while some nonconference games remain to be scheduled.
The Hawkeyes have cross-over games against Ohio State and Rutgers in 2022, and they play Rutgers and Michigan State in 2023.
In 2024, Iowa travels to Rutgers and Indiana to play its East foes. The Hawkeyes play a historically quality slate in 2025, battling Ohio State and Michigan.
