Authorities have accused a Cedar Rapids woman of injuring another.
Jody Kubik, 48, was charged Oct. 26 with willful injury and domestic abuse/assault by using a weapon.
According to an arrest affidavit, Kubik and the woman were in a car coming back from an Iowa City concert, and Kubik was very intoxicated. The pair argued about the victim being touched by another person, the affidavit said.
During the argument, the affidavit said, Kubik stabbed the victim two times in the arm.
Kubik both claimed innocence and gave incriminating statement to officers, the affidavit said, and she said she had a knife but did not know if it had been in her hand. She also told officers, the affidavit said, she had thrown the knife out of the case.
Randomly, the affidavit said, Kubik blurted out to the jail staff she did stab the victim, but it was in self-defense.
Willful injury is a Class-D felony.
