All U.S. military positions are now open to women.
As of Dec. 3, infantry and special operations jobs are open to all genders, which adds the U.S. to a list of over a dozen countries who already allow this.
We want our best qualified soldiers, regardless of gender, to be afforded the opportunity to serve in any military occupation, ” Major Chris Guderski, with the Army ROTC, said.
For Amanda Manary, USAR, the news is exciting.
“We’ve been sort of limited for so long and now we finally have this equality,” Manary said. “We actually have been in combat for a hwile now, we just haven’t gotten the recognition for it.”
The order goes into effect in 25 days.
