A new group on campus is aiming to advocate for transgender rights and provide a support group for any transgender students.
The University of Iowa Trans Alliance Group was created to help Hawkeyes foster a welcoming environment for transgender students and advocate for transgender and non-binary rights on campus as well as in the country.
“Being a member in the trans alliance should really make it so they have a safe space where they can come and be themselves,” said Sean Finn, founder of the UI Trans Alliance Group. “Somebody who is still hiding from who they are, who doesn’t feel comfortable with who they are, I’d say ‘find a space where you can be who you are.’”
